We regularly need to arrange for cabinets to be placed in the communal areas at the blocks of flats we manage. These cabinets contain various information about the building which the fire brigade may access if needed. They will include Logbooks for maintenance and ideally plans of the building including the fire strategy for example.
You may or may not heard of a PEEP (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan). The purpose of a PEEP is to provide people who cannot get themselves out of a building unaided with the best possible escape plan in a fire emergency.
Did you know that Kent Fire and Rescue Service has a Safe and Well Team who carry out visits to vulnerable people and those that meet certain criteria to qualify. The Safe and Well officer will offer advice on how to stay safe in your home, talk through escape routes and offer advice on how to reduce risks and encourage safe behaviours.
You can book your own visit by clicking the following link.

We advise residents in flats to let us know if they or their tenant need to have a PEEP placed in this cabinet for the fire rescue service to access.
